About Us

Our Mission

Saint Benedict’s Chapel is an ecumenical organization dedicated to serving Lubbock’s homeless, working poor, and food insecure. Rooted in service to Jesus Christ, Saint Benedict’s seeks to treat each guest with love and dignity.

What We Do

We are, first and foremost, a church. Each Sunday, volunteers from partner congregations lead a worship service, fostering spiritual nourishment through prayer, communion, and fellowship.

As an extension of our commitment to serving God and neighbor, we provide free dinners Monday through Saturday. Our volunteers work faithfully to provide a safe, welcoming atmosphere for the 80-130 guests served daily.

Our History and Organization

Father Barry Ferguson founded Saint Benedict’s Chapel in 2007 to offer free meals and spiritual support for Lubbock’s poor and homeless. Originally located on Main Street in Lubbock, Saint Benedict’s moved to 1308 Broadway in October 2009, and to our present location at 28th & Ave. Q in August 2016.

Saint Benedict’s Chapel operates under the direction of a Board of Directors.
